MEDIA ADVISORY
03 June 2025
Turtle Island - Indigenous Climate Action (ICA), an Indigenous-led climate justice organization located in Canada, will be releasing the latest report from their Decolonizing Climate Policy Project during an online event this Thursday, June 5, 2025.
ICA’s Decolonizing Climate Policy research project aims to investigate the shortcomings and problems associated with Canadian climate policy while at the same time supporting, and developing Indigenous-led climate policy - climate policies by and for Indigenous Peoples that will rise up and empower Indigenous-led solutions.
This upcoming report release represents an important milestone in ICA’s multi-phase journey. This launch event will offer insights into the reports key findings and open a space for dialogue on the future of climate justice led by Indigenous communities.
QUOI :
Official Launch of the Decolonizing Climate Policy Phase 2 Part 2 Report
Through ICA’s Decolonizing Climate Policy research project, Indigenous Climate Action has investigated the problems of climate change, how it is exacerbating existing challenges in our communities and how colonial capitalism is not only driving the crises but erecting barriers to our own solutions.
In 2023, we released Part 1 of the Phase 2 report, exploring the role policy plays in upholding colonial capitalism. Now we are gearing up to release Part 2, reclaiming policy as our own and exploring how it can serve our own transformative, decolonial goals.
